ExtJS wordpress
ExtJS wordpress Theme, was put together to show off the capabilities of the ExtJS library and according to the author, is more of an experiment and still in alpha. This theme is chock full of features and looks more like an ajax (asynchronous javascript and xml) email application than a wordpress theme. Features include ajaxy stuff like and accordian sidebar, full ajax load of posts and comments, ajax calendar, quick search and comment preview. The theme is widget and tag aware but the author warns that some plugins and widgets might not work as expected. Now the theme does seem a little slow to load and to navigate but that might be due to the server it is running on and not the application. It is definitely fun to play with and navigate around! The theme is released under the LGPL.
Although the ext js library make heavy use of system resources (try to compare site build with and without ext js in firebug), I would not worry about it in present days. One can say that the bottle neck in case of the theme is bandwidth. It is partially truth: the theme requires ~500kB of ext js, then there is ~80kB of css and ~60kB of images - now framework is loaded - the saki’s panel&Accordion extension (javascript and css): ~60kB, then ~10kB of theme css plus ~20kB of theme javascript. The last goes wordpress itself: ~50kB. Together it is ~780kB.
- Makes use of beautiful ExtJS styles
- Makes use of real application ExtJS layout
- Uses Ajax to load Entries
- Sidebar uses famous Jozef Sakalos Accordion
- Calendar Widget is ajaxified and ExtJS skinned
- Quick Search displays search results during typing
- Comments are posted via Ajax; without refreshing the content of the entry
- One can open full page recent comments preview
- Pages menu make use of ExtJS hierarchical menu
- Theme is widgets and tags aware

As the ajax is the buzz word of the day more and more developers are looking for a good
tool for developing an AJAX application. But what are the tool’s features to be considered
an ajax development tool.
As we can see from the list, anyone that has a name in a web development related bussiness has jumped into the wagon. From all this major players you may be wandering why I have included JSEclipse. Will see about that later. What have come to my attention is that all this tools are ajax ready because all have a JavaScript editor. There are too few other features to make one tool better in the ajax development (I will not include here visual studio as I did not tested it yet). Sun studio creator comes with ajax jsf Components a library of ajax components. This seems to be a nice addition. So, with respect to javascript editing, JSEclipse seems to be a very good tool.
First let see an ajax ready tools’ list, in no particular order:
MyEclipse IDE
MyEclipse is a commercially available Enterprise Java and AJAX IDE created and maintained by the company Genuitec, a founding member of the Eclipse Foundation.
MyEclipse is built upon the Eclipse platform,[1] and integrates both proprietary and open source solutions[2] into the development environment.
MyEclipse has two primary versions (apart from the "Blue Edition," referred to below): a professional and a standard edition.[3] The standard edition adds database tools, a visual web designer, persistence tools, Spring tools, Struts and JSF tooling, and a number of other features to the basic Eclipse Java Developer profile. It competes with the Web Tools Project, which is a part of Eclipse itself, but MyEclipse is a separate project entirely and offers a different feature set.
Most recently, MyEclipse has been made available via Pulse,[4] a provisioning tool that maintains Eclipse software profiles, including those that use MyEclipse. Additionally, MyEclipse is offering a customized version for IBM products, "MyEclipse Blue Edition, "[5] that adds specific support for Rational Software and WebSphere development.
